Blocked out items in storage, inventory, trade and bright skill icons.
Hello.
Whenever I go to identify and item, salvage it, or move it, all of the items and bags on the top become grey squares (this happens in trade too). But to fix I can do the auto detect thing in options and everything goes back to normal but its very annoying to do that every single time.
Also, when I change skills, all of the skills in the skill bar and skill listing either turn very bright or just go blank. To fix this, I do the same thing with the items.
I think my comp is threatened by change. :/
Help would be appreciated. ^^

Hrm, sounds like video issues. Unfortunately, the first thing I'd suggest is making sure your video drivers are up to date.
Do you notice any other visual issues while playing?

Yeah, we just got a new computer and graphics card.
I'm not sure about video drivers though...
The only other thing that I notice is that in towns and explorable areas there are squares... I don't really have another way of putting it. Like if you have a black mountain next to a dirt path, in the middle of the dirt path there would be a black square that is similar to the mountain.

oh um. i meant to say if it's an ATI card get the latest drivers or if it's Nvida then grab the newest.
the more technical way is going to your Device manger and checking the Display adapters prosperities.
can click here to see what i'm talking about

Additionally you should only have your graphics card listed (two will be displayed if it supports dual-displays).
If there is a red X over any listed item, that's a device issue. You can right click and uninstall anything with a red X. If Windows needs it, the item will be safely re-installed after rebooting.

Okay, Well, I have NVIDIA and when its minimized it says; NVIDIA GeForce 6100.
Theres no 'Display Adapters' however, I have an option to 'restore factory settings'. Do I want to do that? I might have tampered with it and changed it...
BTW, does refresh rate have anything to do with it? Mines at 60 Hertz (I have no idea what any of this stuff is lol)

NO "Display Adapter's" yikes... might have to get one of your computer freinds to check that out. Sounds like you might have remove all the drivers (add/remove programs) and start over with the drivers....
as for the game....can you try to run GW in the window view? i mean not full screen? just want to see if your get the same error/effect?
I don't think refresh rate should matter but you never know. Check to see if your computer rate is at 60 also. My system at home are both set to "auto" (GW and windows)
*edit* is your video card on board?

Puebert, go to, start, control panel look for add remove programs, look for the nVidia tab, click on that, select remove display drivers only. Reboot. Go to nVidia site, select download drivers, select graphics driver, click Geforce and TNT2, then select your operationing system, download. Once downloaded open and install. As for refresh rate, if it is a TFT flat screen 60Hz is right, anything over just accelerates the pixel death.

updating graphics drivers is very tricky... sometimes even if you THINK you did it right, it will still glitch ... I think the newer NVida and ATI drivers are smart enough to uninstall themselves... but you never know...
6100 isnt exactly the most top-notch card either... it might simply be an issue with textures on the memory, or a slow bit bus (or whatever its called)
Same thing as how the NVida 5000FX series are advertised as having 256mb, but lack the processing power to effectively use it.
shader models might be an issue-
I been havin graphic problems of my own for te past week now- so I cant exactly say im an expert in this field... just offering some possible explanations...

I have the same problem as you, the ground looks like made of squares or some muthafucca BIG pixels!
I have the newest nVidia drivers and I'm running a 6800GT on a Prescott 3.0
If I click on auto detect the problem is solved but only untill you zone :-/

Make sure you're using the latest WHQL drivers and not betas. Beta drivers can often cause funny effects. If you are using the latest WHQL's, then try the next oldest WHQL version.

Update to the most current stable MS WHQL driver then try backtracking as kvndoom indicated
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
older versions
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html
Update to the most current version of direct x from microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
If you are over clocking the card, set it back to the default settings.
Also try un-installing GW and re-installing in case it's a corrupted gw.dat file.
(If you know how, just renamge the current gw.dat file and then let it re-download the game enough to start playing it, then if the issue is still there, you can delete your incomplete gw.dat file and restore the one that has all the files in it).

Yes, I can run GW in a window, whenever it gets sized down to a window or resized to full screen it fixes it but its so darn inconvenient. (sp)
Whenever I tamper with the sceen it fixes it but when I rezone is when it gets 'broken' again.

The same exact thing happened to me. I just bought a new graphics card.
I would recommend ATI Radeon 9250 PCI Bus.
